A crowd of over 150 enthusiastic fans were on hand for the latest edition of Saturday Nite Slam.
To begin the evening, Jeremy Strong invited Ahuna into the ring. Ahuna called referees Kazz and Jeremy the Axe into the ring to deliver a message from Commissioner Bill Apter. Commissioner Apter was looking into the complaint Mr. Oki filed over Jeremy's officiating and declared that it was the job of Senior Referee Kazz to find a resolution. Kazz told Jeremy that that he looked at the tape that Oki submitted with his complaint and found that Jeremy's count of Big Daddy Frank was kind of quick. Kazz then declared that he was putting Jeremy on probation and would keep a careful eye on him.
Match #1 (4-way tag match) Zero Tolerance (Shin-Ku and Crusher from Maui) vs. The Suicide Kings (AWA's Chris Del Sol and Matt Farmer) vs. Hawaiian Blood (Kaimana and Kaniela) vs. Manu Samoa (Ativalu and Tui)
A tag match is a wild affair when there's just two teams, but four teams in one ring at one time makes for absolute pandemonium. After 15 minutes of wild action, the Suicide Kings and Shin-Ku found themselves alone in the ring since everyone else was busy brawling with each other on the floor. The Suicide Kings took advantage by double-teaming Shin-Ku and scoring the pin before the other participants realized what had happened. referee Jeremy the Axe, time 15:15
Match #2: Bushido-X vs. Sickdog
Getting away with a low blow wasn't enough for Bushido-X to steal this match. Sickdog took everything that Bushido could throw at him, legal or not, and gave it back 150%. Just before the 6 minute mark, Sickdog nailed his patented Sickdog Drop and scored the pin over Bushido. After the result was announced and Bushido caught his breath, he surprised everyone by shaking Sickdog's hand and raising Sickdog's arm in victory. referee Jeremy the Axe, time 5:59
Match #3 (Kekaulike Tag Championship): Nightmare and Big Daddy Frank vs. 939 Express (Rock Star Ricky Thunder and Hot Sauce Jody Lopez)
It seemed that the crowd was anticipating this match almost as much as Nightmare and Big Daddy Frank were looking forward to their shot at the championship gold. No one was disappointed. Both teams landed solid moves and worked well together. At the six minute mark, Manu Samoa appeared at ringside. At first it appeared that they were there strictly as observers, but it turned out they were simply picking their moment. After eight minutes of furious action, the 939 Express set up a vicious flying Thunderbolt on Nightmare. Ricky Thunder covered Nightmare for a sure three count, but before referee Kazz reached the three count, Ativalu dragged Kazz out of the ring and clocked him. Ativalu and Tui joined Nightmare and Big Daddy Frank in pounding on Ricky Thunder and Jody Lopez. When Kazz recovered a minute later, he called for the bell and awarded the match to the 939 Express by disqualification. Both Ricky Thunder and Jody Lopez needed assistance back to the locker room after the vicious four-on-two attack. referee Kazz, time 9:13
Match #4: Kaniela vs. Kapu
As usual, Bushido-X accompanied Kapu to the ring and mostly was unable to interject himself into the match until what seemed like the end of the match. At 11:35, Kaniela caught Kapu in a Blood Driver and appeared to pin him, but Bushido-X insisted to referee Jeremy that Kapu's foot was on the bottom rope. Referee Jeremy restarted the match, but when Kaniela tried to argue about the decision, Kapu hit Kaniela from behind, choke slammed him, and pinned him. referee Jeremy the Axe, time 12:33
Match #5 (triple threat): Samoan Stallion Ativalu vs. Mr. Spa Fitness vs. Kaimana
Zero Tolerance made their way to ringside to observe the match, and I overheard them saying that they were impressed by Mr. Spa Fitness. They weren't as impressed by Kaimana, since twice when Kaimana was thrown from the ring, Shin Ku and Crusher attacked him. The second time, they were caught and referee Kazz ordered the Maui invaders back to the locker room. Mr. Spa Fitness was disappointed in the match in several ways. First, Ativalu rejected his request to form a partnership against Kaimana. Next, Kaimana rejected Spa Fitness' request to form a partnership against Ativalu. Worse yet, Spa Fitness caught Ativalu in his deadly crucifix but couldn't quite hold Ativalu down for a pin. Ativalu was still down, so Spa Fitness told the crowd "that's it" but was immediately thrown out of the ring by Kaimana. Tui, Ativalu's partner in Manu Samoa, started brawling with Spa Fitness outside the ring but in the mean time, Kaimana was able to land his new finisher, which I'm told he calls the Ego Trip, on the still-hurt Ativalu and score the pinfall victory. referee Kazz, time 13:10
Match #6 (main event): Shin-Ku vs. J. T. Wolfen
Shin-Ku told the crowd that the first match didn't count and that he demanded to wrestle the best that HCW had to offer: J. T. Wolfen. Far be it for Wolfen to disappoint anyone, so he charged to the ring and accepted the challenge. Shin-Ku is literally the biggest challenge that our Kamehameha Heritage Champion has ever faced in HCW, but Wolfen was still able to take all that the big, powerful Maui wrestler had to dish out, slam him, and land an awesome moonsault for a pinfall victory. referee Jeremy the Axe, time 4:58
Don't forget that the next Saturday Nite Slam will be held on September 23, 2006 at Tropics. As usual, the doors will open at 6:00 and gong time will be at 7:00.
