The 75+ fans in attendance were undoubtedly pleasantly surprised that the usual admission fee had been waived for the evening, at least until the reason for the change became known: a number of the HCW superstars, including Kamehameha Heritage Champion JT Wolfen and Kekaulike Tag Champions 939 Express, had abruptly parted ways with the company and would not be performing.
To begin the evening, the HCW wrestlers and staff in attendance went into the ring, and Ahuna made some announcements.
Ahuna announced that, by order of Commissioner Bill Apter, HCW would no longer carry the NWA name. Commissioner Apter also stripped JT Wolfen of the Kamehameha Heritage Title and the 939 Express of the Kekaulike Tag Titles.
"Mr. HCW" Kaimana then took his turn at the microphone and, speaking from the heart, expressed his anger at the sudden departures of JT Wolfen, Ricky Thunder, Jody Lopez, and Kapu. Kaimana said that by picking up their bags and leaving, the others had forgotten about the fans and HCW ohana (family). Kaimana ended on a happier note by promising, "We will move forward because we are ohana."
Kaimana gave the microphone back to emcee Jeremy Strong, who promised the crowd that a new Kamehameha Heritage Champion would be crowned that night.
Match #1 (title vs. title): NWA Hawaii Cruiserweight Champion Mr. Spa Fitness vs. HCW Inter-Island Champion Kaimana
Mr. Spa Fitness, who has been on quite a roll since adopting his far-more-aggressive attitude, challenged Kaimana during the September 9 show and even put his own Cruiserweight title on the line in a unification title match. Of course, Kaimana, who backs down from no one, accepted, which led to this historic match.
When Mr. Spa Fitness told me he had perfected the flying crucifix, he certainly wasn't kidding as it won him yet another match and a new title. After nearly 9 minutes of furious action, the referee was distracted by something outside the ring, which gave Fitness the perfect chance to hit Kaimana with a low blow then trap him in the crucifix for the pin. time: 9:04, referee Jeremy the Axe
After the match, Mr. Spa Fitness held both of his title belts up, then made a face, said, "NWA," and dropped the Cruiserweight belt to the floor. This brought a few cheers from the fans, but those were quickly replaced by jeers as Fitness began bragging about his victory. Fitness proclaimed that he will be the best Inter-Island Champion and that nobody will take the belt away from him.
Match #2: Kaniela vs. Nightmare
Nightmare and Kaniela threw everything they had at each other as if this was the title match. There were so many near-falls in this match, and both superstars were shocked when the other managed to get a shoulder up just before the three count. Kaniela must have thought he had the match won when he caught Nightmare in Morgan's Corner in the middle of the ring, but Nightmare lasted 30 seconds (a record?) as he slowly managed to drag himself to the ropes and force a break. In the end, Kaniela landed a Blood Driver and covered Nightmare for the three count. time: 11:31, referee Jeremy the Axe
After the decision was announced, Nightmare went out of the ring to get a chair. This backfired when Kaniela was able to kick the chair from Nightmare's hands before Nightmare could use it. As the two superstars argued, emcee Jeremy Strong picked the chair up and smashed it into Nightmare's back.
Match #3: Big Daddy Frank vs. Kaimana
Kaimana, who had already been through a tough opening match, should have been easy pickings for Big Daddy Frank, the largest wrestler on the HCW Oahu roster. Then again, Kaimana has always been an over-achiever. Knowing he could not overpower Big Daddy Frank, Kaimana did everything he could to negate the size differential, and it paid off. Just as Big Daddy Frank was picking Kaimana up for a slam, Kaimana was able to shift his weight and roll Big Daddy Frank up for a pin! time: 8:10, referee Jeremy the Axe
Match #4 (Kamehameha Heritage Title Match): Mr. Spa Fitness vs. Kaniela vs. Kaimana
As he has done before in triple-threat matches, Mr. Spa Fitness tried to form alliances with each wrestler, but both Kaimana and Kaniela rebuffed his suggestions.
For the first few minutes of the match, it appeared as though it would be a Hawaiian Blood vs. Spa Fitness handicap match but the dynamics changed when Kaimana injured his left knee. Kaniela went after the weakened Spa Fitness but just as Kaniela had Fitness covered for the pin, Kaimana attacked Kaniela to break the count.
In fact, each time either member of Hawaiian Blood had Mr. Spa Fitness in a pin or submission move, the other would intervene and force a break.
Ironically, at the 10:22 mark, both Kaimana and Kaniela had Mr. Spa Fitness covered for the three count, so the referee sent Mr. Spa Fitness back to the locker room and ordered the match to resume with the two remaining men.
Without an extra target, the two Blood brothers went after each other with a vengeance. Kaimana had difficulty mounting a sustained offense because of his knee injury and Kaniela, of course, focused his attack on Kaimana's knee and leg.
After battling just each other for more than 8 minutes, Kaimana caught Kaniela in the Ego Trip. Kaniela wasn't able to kick out in time, which made Kaimana the newest Kamehameha Heritage Champion. total time: 18:40, referee Kazz
After the match, Kaniela congratulated Kaimana and put the title belt around his partner's waist.
After Kaimana had some time to savor the victory, Kaniela confronted referee Jeremy the Axe about the last show's controversial decision that cost Kaniela the NWA Hawaiian Heavyweight Title. Jeremy said that it was business, not personal. Kaniela said that "this" wasn't personal and, amid wild cheers from the crowd, landed a Blood Driver on the referee. As Hawaiian Blood continued celebrating Kaimana's new title, Kazz had to literally carry Jeremy back to the locker room.
