Comments on the matches:
A large, vocal crowd of over 100 was on hand for April 14's Saturday Nite Slam.
Before the show began, everyone took a moment to recognize the passing that morning of Don Ho, one of Hawaii's most famous entertainers.
To start the action, Ahuna took the microphone and expressed his thanks to the fans and fellow superstars for their well wishes as his broken arm heals. He added that he did not appreciate one particular set of gestures from Ma Hu Wong. Ma Hu sent Ahuna candy and flowers, which was cool with Ahuna, but the other gifts, a thong and picture "au natural," really ticked Ahuna off.
As a way of teaching Ma Hu Wong a lesson, Ahuna announced that Wong's opponent would be a former champion. As Wong looked toward the locker room for his opponent, Ahuna shocked everyone by taking his sling and shirt off, and taking Ma Hu Wong on himself.
Though Ma Hu Wong kept Ahuna from his A game for part of the match due to some of the ... unusual moves that Wong has become known for, Ahuna pulled it together and effected a convincing victory in his return match.
When the second, six man elimination match was announced, Kenjiro at first did not come to the ring. Once he got to the ring, he spent most of the match jumping off of the apron to avoid being tagged into the match.
It was only after Big Daddy Frank and Ma Hu Wong eliminated themselves that Kaimana and Kaniala found a way to tag Mr. Spa Fitness and Kenjiro into the ring at the same time. At first, Fitness lay down on the mat to be pinned by Kenjiro, but each time they tried, Kaimana or Kaniala jumped into the ring and broke the count.
In the end, it was not much of a surprise that Kenjiro won the match. While the other participants spent more than their share of time in the ring, Kenjiro had barely broken a sweat before going one-on-one against a spent Kaniala.
Though there was an intermission between the gruelling six man elimination match and the next match between Kaniala and newcomer The Blue Hawaiian, it was very little time considering how taxing the earlier match was. The Blue Hawaiian was able to get an advantage of Kaniala, and may well have won the match if Kaniala had not been able to roll The Blue Hawaiian's top rope body press into a pinning combination of his own.
The Blue Hawaiian was a model of sportsmanship throughout the match, and raised Kaniala's hand in victory at the conclusion.
Mr. Spa Fitness was expecting his match with Kaimana to be for Kaimana's HCW King Kamehameha World Title, but Ahuna announced that while Fitness had earned "a" title shot, it wouldn't be for this title. Ahuna announced that following the conclusion of this non-title singles match, Hawaiian Blood would defent their Kekaulike Tag Titles against Mr. Spa Fitness and a partner whom Ahuna would name later.
Naturally, neither Fitness nor Kaimana were pleased at this turn of events, particularly since they would both have to contest a tag match after the conclusion of their singles match. This didn't stop them from giving their all in their non-title match. No one would have guessed that the match was only a warm-up for the tag title match to come. When the dust settled, Kaimana won the match by pinfall and both men awaited Ahuna's announcement of Mr. Spa Fitness's partner.
Mr. Spa Fitness would have liked to tag with fellow Oki stable-mate Kenjiro, but Ahuna called for The Blue Hawaiian to come to the ring and serve as Spa Fitness's partner.
At first, it appeared that the sportsmanship of The Blue Hawaiian would not work with Mr. Spa Fitness's agressiveness. Things came to a head when referee Kazz was inadvertently knocked out. Mr. Spa Fitness brought a chair into the ring and got ready to hit Kaimana with it. The Blue Hawaiian stopped Fitness from using the chair. The Blue Hawaiian and Kaimana shook hands, but as soon as Kaimana turned his back, The Blue Hawaiian hit him with the chair! With Kazz still knockec out, Spa Fitness and The Blue Hawaiian hit both members of Hawaiian with the chair and had them lying helpless on the mat. The Blue Hawaiian unmasked himself and revealed to everyone that he was Chris Del Sol!
Kazz came to, saw what Fitness and Del Sol had done, and disqualified them. Meanwhile, Big Daddy Frank and Kenjiro made their way to the ring. Kenjiro hit Kaimana over the head with a chair, but Kaimana returned the favor. Big Daddy allied himself with Hawaiian Blood and helped them to get some measure of revenge against Mr. Spa Fitness, who was abandoned by both of his partners.
