In the article, he says - Blears (Lord "Tally Ho" Blears) recruited and mentored only two Hawai'i wrestlers, and Iaukea was one of them. The other I believe is Don Muraco. Stump me if I'm wrong.

Blears is also credited with creating Nolan Rodriguez's moniker "The Portugese Flash"
Blears on an old wrestling video of mine, during a match between Siva Afi & Muraco in which Blears was comentating blears also claims that Don Muraco was his protoge and that he wrestled for punahou high school around the same time that Bill Francis wrestled for Kailua.
I find that funny because in an interview with blears he claims that he only pointed Muraco in the direction of another wrestler who would take him to America to train him, and that Muraco nearly turned down the offer at the thought that he might miss the big swells that were to occur soon.

aloha, from the 'constitution state' of connecticut. king curtis is truly a legend and one of my influences in the business along with hall of famer, 'captain' lou albano. it is beautiful to see that the Hawaii Pro-Wrestling scene is still a 'hot-bed'. In the last 8 years i have had the honor of working with Polynesian greats such as; Samu, Tonga Kid, the late Yokozuna, Rikishi, Umaga, H.O.F. 'Superfly' Jimmy Snuka, and i had the chance to meet and work with Hall of Famer, Don Muraco back in the late 90's here in Connecticut on several indy events. i look forward to being a part of the HCW fanbase and hope to get out to the islands soon and attend a live event. please check out www.northeastwrestling.com for info on 'the Guardian of Chaos', Big Daddy...Pro-Wrestling Manager. The wrestler that Lord Blears directed him to is Sandor Kovacs,a wrestler / prmotoer in the Pacific Northwest. Don who did not use his name while wrestling in the PNW, also wrestled in the San Francisco, Florida territories.While in Florida, he also wrestled under a mask As most wrestling fans knows, he wrestled in the WWF, later becoming WWE. |
